The newest addition to Langtang routes is the Tamang Heritage Trail. The Tamangs are an ethnic group from eastern Tibet who migrated to Nepal long ago. Their name in the Tamang language means horse soldiers, and they say that they were originally recruited as cavalry soldiers by the great Khan in the 12th century and came to Nepal after his death.
They are no longer fierce warriors though. Instead they are perhaps the friendliest people you will ever meet: The Tamangs themselves are a great reason to choose this trek. The mountains and gorgeous countryside aren't bad either...
